At the heart of our organisation lies a passionate belief – that every young person and their family deserves the opportunity to engage in sports and physical activity, irrespective of their social status and background. We understand the power of sports to not only enhance physical well-being but also to create positive, lasting changes in communities.

SOYD in education settings

We offer schools a range of services bespoke to the requirements of each individual school that we partner with. At SOYD, we work with schools to develop a safe and supportive learning environment that also promises a fun and energising experience that will leave children wanting to come back again and again

Schools that partner with us will energise the school environment with round the clock activity! Our dedicated team of activity experts are passionate about engaging children in physical activity. By keeping children active, they can enjoy a huge range of benefits which include; mental, social, emotional, physical and educational benefits.

Doorstep sport

Building safer, stronger communities through sport In disadvantaged, low-income areas, young people encounter many obstacles, making them susceptible to either falling victim to or participating in youth-related crime. Interventions centred around sport play a crucial role in disrupting this cycle by offering valuable support and mentorship to young individuals. SOYD endeavours to address the pressing twin issues of boredom and alienation, recognised as major contributors to criminal activities and disruptive behaviour, by engaging young people with their communities and presenting them with inspiring opportunities. Our team of highly qualified staff and carefully selected local volunteers not only provide essential structure and expertise but also serve as tangible evidence of the transformative influence of sports. This approach redirects misguided energy, ultimately empowering at-risk youth to forge a positive path forward.

Despite these benefits, many young people growing up in low-income, underserved communities often encounter limited or nonexistent opportunities to participate in sport and access the transformative advantages it provides.

We firmly believe that the right to engage in sport and enjoy its benefits should be accessible to all, not just a privilege for a select few. Through our Doorstep Sport approach, we are dismantling traditional barriers to physical activity. Fit and Fed

Ensuring Access to Free Activities and Nutritious Meals for Young People throughout Kent and Medway during School Holidays

The school holidays can pose significant challenges for young people, with holidays often synonymous with hardship, hunger, and isolation. Families in underserved communities frequently grapple with the financial strain associated with covering additional food and childcare expenses during this period.

In 2017, SOYD introduced 'Fit and Fed,' a year-round initiative designed to address the triple inequalities faced by young people in underserved communities. In collaboration with local organisations and StreetGames, Fit and Fed offers complimentary holiday activities accompanied by nourishing meals, specifically catering to children and young people who are most in need. This programme aims to alleviate the burdens faced by families during school holidays by providing essential support and fostering a sense of community.
