Community Sport

Sport builds safer, stronger communities in disadvantaged areas. Our programmes disrupt the cycle of youth crime, often fuelled by boredom and alienation, by providing vital support, mentorship, and inspiring opportunities. Qualified staff and local volunteers channel energy positively, empowering at-risk youth to thrive – not only as participants but also as future coaches and community leaders.

Partnerships and Sustainability

We build strong, lasting partnerships by identifying key stakeholders and community needs. Through collaboration and shared goals, we create meaningful relationships that drive collective action. By leveraging each partner's strengths and ensuring clear roles, communication, and evaluation, we maximize impact and sustain long-term commitment.

Training and Development

We empower individuals by providing high-quality training and mentoring opportunities that develop coaching confidence and leadership skills. Through structured programmes, from activator workshops to nationally recognised qualifications, we create accessible pathways into the sports industry. By supporting personal growth, encouraging practical experience, and delivering targeted CPD, we build a skilled local workforce ready to inspire and lead across schools and communities.

More than just a sports session.

We are inclusive and consider the needs of diverse young people in underserved communities, addressing age groups, genders and vulnerabilities. We priorities young people from low-income underserved communities, ensuring they are central to the design, development and delivery of each component.

SOYD has truly worked wonders in our school community, especially with those students who were once disengaged and had a negative perspective on PE and sports. Their approach is nothing short of inspiring. They've managed to turn skeptics into enthusiasts, making physical activity not just accessible but genuinely enjoyable for everyone. The transformation I've witnessed in these students—moving from inactive and disinterested to active participants who now embrace the positive impact of sports—is a testament to the incredible work SOYD is doing.

Head Teacher, Folkestone

In our community, our kids struggle for things to do. Thanks to organisations like SOYD our youngsters get the opportunity to participate in positive activity on a weekly basis. My youngest has been taking part in sessions for 2 years now and it has been amazing seeing the transformation in his confidence.

Fit and Fed continues to benefit the local community not just around eating more healthy and being more active but ALSO making lots of new friends. lots of the kids band together, they walk to fit and fed they walk home together from fit and fade, when not at fit and fed they're all talking to each other about who's going to be there, who's not going to be there giving them something to look forward to. Without this project most would probably be at home playing their xbox or their PlayStation at worse they might be out on the streets getting up to no good.

Big Local

“Through our programs and initiatives, we aim to create a ripple effect of positive change. From fostering a love for sports to building a sense of community, we strive to be a catalyst for transformation in every neighbourhood we touch.”
